Remarks: This Baroque violin bow was made in Brazil. It is made of ipe, a Brazilian hardwood which is very dense. Ipe offers an excellent alternative to Pernambuco. The bow weighs 54 grams and measures 669 mm in length. The frog is ebony and the button is a synthetic material designed to imitate ivory without any of the associated restrictions. The design of the bow is most influenced by the French makers from around 1750.
